Welcome

How’s it going out there?!  I’m glad you’re here!

I’m feeling all the nerves and excitement of starting this blog.  I keep telling myself, “Sarah, I know posting online isn’t your favorite thing, and I’m sure lots of people think you share your opinions too much, but we’re going to grow and we’re going to let people think whatever they want to think.  Get out there!  Hop on the blogging van wagon!  Live up the blogging phase of your life!”

The truth is, I never thought I would be a writer of any kind but this last year I wrote a computer safety book, collaborated on a workbook for kids, and am now a blogger.  I wasn’t even good at keeping up a journal until my junior year in college when a tie dye wearing, music playing, English major sat me down on a bench and told me to open my notebook and write, “I am a writer.”  When I did he said, “Look, now you’re a writer.”  And it was true, I had written something and thus became a writer.  From then on I have consistently kept a journal.  Journaling allowed me to “word vomit” all the run-on sentences in my mind, and now, in my coaching I ask all my clients to keep a thought journal so that they are able to SEE their own rambling and sometimes sneaky thoughts.

Lucky for you, this blog will NOT be my journal.  What I write here is meant for YOU.  This blog is my way of saying, “You’re not alone.  I’m here and I care.”  This blog is about helping as many kids (and adults who work with kids) as possible.

This is what I do.  I believe in and fight for children.  I hope that as long as you are here with me that you feel my deep love for you.

I have never been a perfect teacher and this will not be a perfect blog but I promise to do my best to be an advocate for children, by providing edifying, uplifting, appropriate, and relevant content for children and teens.  All I want is to help grow a happy, kind, and wise generation that is strong enough to face all the ugly that’s coming at them.  There is so much degrading, uninspiring, and hurtful material on the internet, so I hope that this can feel like taking in a big breath of fresh clean air.

Some weeks I will share tools and principles that I have learned, and other weeks I might invite other professionals to share.  I will frequently have challenges for you to try, and I invite any feedback or thoughts you would like to share.  I hope this won’t just be me calling into a dark void.  I would love to get to know you and hear your perspectives.

It should be noted that this blog isn’t a substitute for other professional advice.  Please always seek out the best help for yourself.  If you are interested in working with me then check out my course and I would love to work together.

I look forward to our journey together!  I hope I get to hear from you. There is so much knowledge you hold and I hope we can create a killer community together!
